While there are probably a number of practical racing arguments against owning this absolutely awesome 1955 Chevy LSR machine, the non-practical reasons for owning it number in the thousands. The good is that the car has run 198mph and it did that last year. Knowing that tells us the car is legal and passed the rigors for Bonneville tech, so it should be good to go again.
The bad is that the best effort of 198mph is still 28mph off of the B/CGC class record that the owners of the car are chasing after. The aerodynamics of a two story home are probably making the effort difficult as well as the the other myriad of challenges all racers face on the salt.
The car is full of good pieces like the 384ci SB2 Chevy engine, TKO transmission, quick change rear, a modified Art Morrison chassis, and a host of other name brand parts. The car was built by Dean’s Hot Rods and has been running on the salt for a number of years.
Does the combo have enough suds to run 28mph faster? Who knows, because that is a pretty wide chasm at 200 mph, especially when we’re talking a stock bodied 1955 Chevrolet! The asking price is north of $100K, which makes sense to us because this car looks like a million bucks.
