Racing Junk Find: Two Piles of Pontiac Power

Racing Junk Find: Two Piles of Pontiac Power

We were doing a logical thing the other day, shopping for engines that would be perfect for vehicles we don’t own. Eschewing the Chevrolet and Ford families, we were looking for something weird and wild. Not weird, but definitely wild are these two Pontiac motors, which use aftermarket blocks, heads, hell, everything!

The “bigger brother” is a 565ci monster that churns out a reported 980hp on pump gas and more than 1500 when hit with a fire hose of nitrous. These are serious motors. Using an aluminum IA2 block from Butler Performance, and topped with easy breathing Tiger heads from All Pontiac, and a serious single plane intake, this is a mill that can really thunder the ground at the local drags. The 14:1 compression ratio may make street driving an issue though.

As big as $16,500 bucks sounds, the blog alone is pushing five grand and the heads, assembled are even more than that. As is turns out, $16,500 is a damned good buy!
