Why Does This Awesome Not Happen More Often: 1955 Ford Steel Body On Stock Car Chassis

Doesn’t it seem like, especially with the popularity of nostalgia drag racing that there would be nostalgia stock car racing going crazy all over the country? For as many disaffected NASCAR fas as there are crying about the lost glory of the old days, it would seem like inventions such as the one below would be growing on trees. Hell, older stock car chassis can be bought for a song on places like RacingJunk and elsewhere, right?

This car is an awesome example of what could be done and done in a pretty large scale. Now, we get the perfection of the 1955 Ford body here is a hard to find deal but someone could be blasting these suckers out of fiberglass next week.

You are looking at an older Hooters Cup chassis, powered by a 358ci Roush Yates engine that is backed by a Jerico 4-speed road racing transmission. Hell, you are an exhaust system, horn, and lights away from driving this thing on the street.

There is a NASCAR-spec Ford 9-inch in the back, likely packing a Detroit Locker and the car has a shock and brake package that is normally used at Martinsville apparently. Stock bumpers, stock grill, and a 3,400lb weight.

This thing is boss and we’re surprised there are not 100 more like it out there. Right?

I have seen the Midwest Vintage races, It is cool as all hell. The one race we watched had 2 -57 Chevys. 3 or 4 Chevells ,a 47 Chevy a 59 Buick.A 60’s Falcon just to mane a few. I am surprised there haven’t been a bunch of street cars done up this way
