Stock eliminator drag racers largely take a lot of pride in the looks and condition of their cars. Stockers retain so much of the OE interior and exterior pieces that they just ooze muscle car cool. This one is head and shoulders even above that. This car was originally a 383 powered 1970 Challenger, and that matching numbers engine comes with the car, but it was converted into a 426 Hemi powered stock eliminator car at some point in its life and the transformation appears to have been done as gently as possible because this car is a showpiece. The engine bay and interior are of showroom quality, the Sassy Grass Green or Sub-Lime paint is perfection in the photos, the white vinyl roof looks as though it was installed yesterday!
Currently the car has an automatic in it, but there are photos that show the rear end to be a Dana 60 so we’re not sure if it came with a four speed or if the owner swapped in the correct rear end for the hemi engine at some point in the car’s life. For us, 1970 is the best year for Challengers we’ve always found them to be better looking than ‘Cudas, but the 1970 model year had the cleanest and most taught lines in our eyes.
As the seller says, the car was constructed with the best of everything that money can buy and it looks like it. We’re not sure if it was raced, where it was raced, and what it may have won. There’s a Jeg’s All-Star sticker on one window with is cool because if the car competed at that race, it has some definite winning history! This is an amazing car when considered as a drag machine or as a potential street car. Hell, look in the background and you can see the original hood up against the wall and it seems to be as nice as the Hemi snorkle unit that is on there now.

I understand Hemi/automatic cars came with an 8 3/4, while 4 speeds got the Dana.
