People collect just about everyting. Our habit is weirdo, basketcase cars, but others like to collect all manner of drag race and hot rod memorabilia. Vintage drag race posters happen to be the focus of a cool little feature written by a friend Darr Hawthorne over at DragRacingOnline. We have a few of these ourselves and we dig the posters because so few survived versus what was actually thrown out.
Promotion used to be a much more labor intensive effort in the days before the internet. Hand bills, signs in windows, and telephone poles, combined with local radio stations, were all part of the promotional plan.Obviously today’s methods are completely different but these posters, some wacky, and some straight ahead, are like a literal time machine to the dates of the original events.
