Our favorite masters of masochism are at it again! Freiburger and Finnegan have loaded up their “Raunchero” and made tracks for the great white north again. As you may remember, the two attempted the journey last year but were stopped by a series of minor disasters and ended up at the bottom of the grand canyon (not in the same way that Thelma and Louise did though). Undaunted and educated by what they went through last year, the guys tweaked the car, reconnoitered their plan and bravely set forth again. This is the first of two parts that they’ll have regarding this journey and it is good stuff. These guys are soft to begin with but after days on end of cruising highways and the frozen tundra of western Canada, they’re downright loopy.
What’s neat is that they actually run into people who watched last year’s videos and those people give them some encouragement and thumbs up to keep with it. The guys needed to maintain a pretty tight driving schedule to make it to what they hope is an ice race in Alaska to really beat on the already well worn Ford, so when you see them sitting on the side of the road, laying in a hotel parking lot, or hastily forming a plan to patch the car back together, time is of the essence.
We’ve been saying this right along, but the Roadkill episodes have been getting better and better as the series has progressed. We’ll take this type of grand adventure and voyeuristic look at gearhead suffering over some of the true crap that is on television these days 10 times out of 10. Do they make it and compete? (Some evidence outside of these guys has surfaced to say that they do…) We’ll have to wait for the next one to find out officially. If this doesn’t make you jones for a road trip (and not necessarily one into the arctic) nothing will.
PRESS PLAY BELOW TO SEE FREIBURGER AND FINNEGAN HEAD OFF INTO THE FROZEN TUNDRA IN THE TRUSTY RANCHERO TO ATONE FOR THEIR FAILURE LAST YEAR! IT IS A GREAT WATCH!
Roadkill is 100 times better than Top Gear, History Channel needs to watch Roadkill to see what a real gear-head show is all about.
Great, great, watch. Brian is absolutley right. The big networks should really take a lesson from Freiburger and Finnegan.
Can’t wait for the next episode.
Freiburger and Finnegan come off(or are) naturals in front of the camera. The same way the UK Top Gear guys do,I guess you could say they have a good report.(spl)
The US Top Gear just seems forced, none of the talent has any infront of a camera,at least not when trying to force their way through forced dialog.
Roadkill could expand into a 10-15 week 1 hour show on TV,48mins of “tape” with ease, add a sitdown segment in the SIL garage ,maybe 4 or 5 guest type shows,5-6 roadtrip types, like Alaska. I like the pick a spot on the map fly there and buy a car then DO SOMETHING with it. Those shows are fun, even though I know the insiders help F&F more than they would help any of us.
Hell with the correct editing the old Car Junkie stuff would work.
The RCMP should be calling soon.
These guys are cool! Inspired me to do a 1100 mile road trip in my 27yr old Elky with 168k on it. I left a fairly new dodge home and the wife thought i was nuts. Will soon be putting a new motor in it but not in the Summit lot!! keep it up guys!!!
I used to go to the states to get unleaded race gas at BP . the american guard would say cool car and let me and my jerry can ‘s thru but coming back into canada the canadian dork would strip search the ranchero every time.
