One of the myriad of announcements made at the 2011 PRI show was the official unveiling of the rules for the ever popular Engine Masters Challenge put on by Popular Hot Rodding Magzaine. PHR’s publisher Ed Zinke led the meeting and Steve Dulcich was there zapping photos. The room was filled to the gills with some of the best engine builders in the country and there was lots of anticipation in the room as we waited for the 2012 rules after the 2011 winners were recognized.
There were changes made in both the procedural end of the contest as well as the technical end. As one would expect, some guys were bouncing with excitement and others were not as enthused, but if you’ve spent more than five minutes around any sort of mechanical competition, you know that this is how it works. We think that the rules will make for an exciting contest in 2012 and there are going to be some humongous power numbers bandied about.
