Sand Drags Covered by the New York Times

Sand Drags Covered by the New York Times

We’ll take any motorsports coverage wer can these days, espcecially if it involves something outside of the mainstream bodies like NASCAR and the NHRA. The sand drags are about as close to fringe element as you can get so it’s an even bigger shock to see the sport and it’s grassroots participants covered in a fancy pants newspaper.

Lots of times these stories are so cantankerous and hacked, they border on comedy, but here the writer does a decent job of capturing the scene and some of the racers. We’ve only heard of the sand drags existing out west, and we’ve never been able to attend any events ourselves, but we have followed the scene, it’s names and performance numbers for a few years now.

Below, you can smack the link to see the full write up on the NYT website. We wonder if they are covering swamp buggies next week.
