Well-to-do Scotsman Richard Billings was recently nabbed by police for doing 127 mph on a supposedly busy highway. Billings claims that he was out testing the car, and magically, when he went hauling ass by the police, the throttle stuck open. His claims seem kind of flimsy considering the fact that police report he was bragging about the car when they got him to pull over.
Billings tried to fight the ticket using an interesting tactic. He didn’t try to pritest the claimed speed, instead he managed to seemingly praise himself telling the court that the car would have been going a whole lot faster if he had not reacted so quickly and got the car hauled down.
Shockingly, the court didn’t buy it. Billings was not happy with the result, telling a reporter outside of the court, “It is ridiculous. I’m very upset.” He has lost the ability to drive legally for the time being and an official sentence will be coming from the judge shortly.
How’s that old saying go again? Oh yeah, a fool and his money are soon parted.
