Bad news here on the Salt. Here’s the statement from SCTA –
The SCTA Board is currently on the salt flats and the BSF is under water and will not dry in time for Speed Week to be held. Therefore, the event is canceled. The Board is discussing the possibility of extending World Finals and making it a delayed Speed Week. The entire SCTA thanks you for your patience and understanding. We look forward to seeing you at our next event.
Well, crap.
crushing news for the folks out there. Bumming for them but the rescue efforts to get all those vehicles out of Lake Bonneville should be worth watching.
Did Finnegan get his drag boat out and make a pass?
Damn ! The one time you wish the weather prognosticators would of been their usual inaccurate selves … but instead the sob’s nail it on the head [ From March they’ve been saying a wetter and cooler summer than average in the greater Rocky Mt West as well as Utah ]
Oh well … at least this gives the teams another year to get their cars sorted . That being about the best spin I can put on it . Otherwise …
Damn !
I can actually hear those trailers rusting!
I had a real bad feeling it was going to be canceled about 23 miles from Wendover. It was raining like crazy. Met a bunch of Aussies and they were still happy to have been there despite no racing.
Well that sucks…but wont the added moisture actually leave the salt in much better condition allowing higher speeds?
