SEMA 2014 Teaser: Kia Hints To A K900 That Sounds…Awesome?!

SEMA 2014 Teaser: Kia Hints To A K900 That Sounds…Awesome?!

You can make all the cracks in the world you want to about past Kias. They were craptacular, had all the power of a baby mouse’s sneeze, interior accommodations that would have compared with the Gulag, and all the sexiness of Roseanne Barr jammed into a Taylor Swift outfit. Nowadays Kia has managed to get to a more respectable level, and like parent company Hyundai, has been reaching higher and higher. The K900 is Kia’s V8, rear wheel drive big car, is meant to be the entry level to a large V8 sedan, and has moved just over 1,000 units this year. Pretty dismal. Well, Kia is going to try to change some minds at this year’s SEMA, and this gray K900 just might be enough to raise a few eyebrows.

The car looks like the typical SEMA car: lowered, good paint, and HRE wheels at least bring a somewhat sporty look to the car, but looks don’t mean anything if you can’t back it up. And that’s where the video comes into play…that V8, a 5.0L piece shared with the Hyundai Genesis, sounds quite a bit more snotty and if my ears don’t deceive me, at least one turbo shoving air into the engine. Power figures aren’t available for this car yet, but considering the K900 has a decent enough 420hp under the hood, this particular Kia should be an entertaining ride, but if it just sits in the Center, it’s a wasted exercise. If Kia wants to impress us, take that thing out into the drift pit out front and lay waste to the rear tires gracefully.

The problem with this car is that it’s still a Kia, and at the end of a day, it’s going to have a higher percentage of plastic content than a Revell model and take a sixteenth of the punishment.
