Restoration isn’t dead. Not by a long shot. Bringing a car back up to new or better is the dream of many who either want to spruce up their old car, and unfortunately, for most of the post-1972 crowd, that’s a rough go, usually requiring junkyard trips, eBay hunting, and sheer luck. At least, that’s how it’s been, but if SEMA 2017 is teaching us anything, it’s that post-1973 fans might start to see the aftermarket catch up…maybe slowly, but surely. And Original Parts Group, Incorporated is working strongly with the GM community to bring some of the General’s 1970s and 1980s cars into the fold. Last year they unveiled that they were busy working on 1960s Cadillac and G-body Buick lines, and for 2017 they showed off some of the goods. Follow along in the pictures for more information:
Before we begin the new parts tour, take note of this 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 sitting pretty under one of OPGI’s easements. This is the Dream Giveaway car this year, and you could win it! CLICK HERE for more details.
In the other easement was this low mileage, bad-in-black Buick Grand National. It’s claimed to have under 10K on the clock. That needs to be changed, we think.
Parts, parts and more parts: Chevelle, El Camino, Tempest/LeMans/GTO, and more…this is OPGI’s main course.
More standard fare includes that nearly impossible to find window trim, wheelwell trim and more.
Now, for the new stuff, starting off with turbo Buick badging. We’ve seen the protective film roast off and the colors degrading in the Grand National emblems and missing engine callouts just suck. Be it a T-type or a full-on GNX, having a missing or poor-looking emblem is an easy fix.
Is your old-school cool Caddy rocking dingy, discolored, cracked or broken taillights? Fix that cruiser!
G-body fans: how ready are you for a replacement dash pad? As the prior owner of a Monte Carlo SS, this is a very welcome sight. Want Grand Prix and Cutlass forms of this dash pad? Shoot OPGI a note and kindly let them know your interest…that’ll help them make the right choice!
Finding clear, functioning gauges for your Cadillac when yours don’t work has to be an agonizing test of your patience, right? Not anymore. They’re clear, they bolt in, and they work. There’s no need to guess how much fuel you do or don’t have, or worse, not know that your 429 is ready to puke coolant everywhere.
Fresh door sills…because after over fifty years of use, there’s no way the ones in your Cadillac look any better.
And finally, reverse light lenses, license plate lights and more. Hit up OPGI if your GM car needs some brightening…they cover a wide array of models in the GM line and provide quality products that will help make your car look it’s best!
