Shocker! IHRA Drops Sanction of Two Former National Event Facilities

The IHRA has announced, albeit quietly, that it has dropped the sanction of two facilities where national events had been held. San Antonio Raceway and Milan Dragway are no longer IHRA sanctioned dragstrips.

If you will remember, the IHRA is currently suing the operator of San Antonio Raceway for $764,000 and had other difficulties with the Milan facility last season after the national event.

We’re wondering where that leaves racers at these two tracks as without a sanctioning affiliation they lose any type of group discount insurance pricing and will be forced to pay “list price” to keep their facilities going. They will aloso face loss of revenue from the national events they both held, as recently as the 2008 season

The IHRA’s announcement is below:

Notice To San Antonio Raceway and Milan Dragway Competitors:
Please note that the IHRA has ended its affiliation and sanction of the tracks located at Milan Dragway and San Antonio Raceway. Accordingly, these facilities are no longer part of any IHRA programs including the Summit Super Series.
