Shocker! NASCAR Leaders Make Great Decision, Racers Allowed to Race, Show Emotion

Desperate times call for desperate measures and for NASCAR brass that meant making some shockingly good decisions. Racers will be allowed to get a little more aggressive on the track, get a little more aggressive with each other, and on the gearhead side of things, restrictor plates will be less restrictive. Joey Logano is about to learn how to bump-draft. Hold on kid!

With the announced changes, we fell like the Daytona 500 is close to appointment viewing. Why? We think so because about half the field has been around long enough to know how to run a car with these new rules on a super speedway. The other half is made up of guys who have been racing in the “nanny” NASCAR era and will probably crap their pants when they get punted at 200 mph.

Think Nelson Piquet Jr. has any semblance of a clue about what these rule changes mean? The most agressive bump he experienced while racing open wheelers was when a crewman tripped over the front wing of the car.

NASCAR remains steadfast in the claim that safety is job number one and we believe that. Obviously, they do not want someone treating the races like a high speed demolition derby. It is a given that the guys who never “learned” bump drafting and true fender banging at the higest level of stock car racing are up for a baptism by fire, but man is it going to make for great TV!

Thanks to Scott Liggett for the tip!
