Splosion Video: How to Remove Your Carbs, Intake Top, and Hood Scoop With Nitrous

The world of high horsepower door slammer drag racing was built on nitrous oxide. Nitrous continues to be one of the bedrock staples in the world of Pro Modified, Top Sportsman, and Outlaw Door Slammer classes. With each passing year, new technology or refinements to existing technology have allowed racers to shove more and more of the “squeeze” into their motors.

The results have been incredible performances, with the top shelf nitrous racers touching the upper three-second zone in eighth-mile competition and deep into the 5s in the quarter-mile.

The car featured in this video runs in the four-teens, which means it is damned fast. If we’re betting on it, the motor is probably somewhere in the 600-700ci range and there are undoubtedly multiple kits installed on the car. This video was shot at the eighth-mile Pittsburgh Raceway Park which is located outside of the steel city and is known as a hard hooking strip.

The car is driven by John Vergotz, who had a front row seat to this impressive (and destructive) pyrotechnic display!

Duck and cover at :50!

Actually Pittsburgh is a 1/4 track but we run the Outlaw Pro Mod show in the 1/8th mile. What the video wasn’t able to show was the huge fire because of a broken fuel line. The track starter, Keith Bowman, gets a big thank you for getting there so quick.
