Howell EFI Talks Throttle Body Conversions – Learn What Sets Them Apart From The Rest

There are an ever growing number of EFI conversion options on the market today and deciding what the right one for you and your car or truck is can be tough. Do you want to make the switch from carb to EFI and do so in an easy, no messing around with it type of way? Do you want to have complete control over every inch of the fuel map and that kind of stuff? Do you want to go with a whiz bang unproven product or do you stick with an industry leader with a track record of success and lots of customer experience. We’re not sure about you but being a guinea pig doesn’t sound like that all that much fun. Enter Howell EFI.

Howell has been taking OEM technology and packaging it in kit form for years. Their throttle body systems are well known to many in the hot rodding community, their engine swap wiring harnesses are recognized as being top flite and among the best in the business so these guys have you covered on all fronts. This video concentrates on the company’s throttle body EFI conversion kits. They create the kits for a multitude of applications and each kit is tuned to the vehicle it is going on. If you have a 454 Chevy with some cam and stuff in it you are not going to be getting the same electronic programming as a guy with a stock 258ci Jeep engine.

We have seen reasonably skilled guys make these conversions in like a day and definitely over a weekend with cruising time to spare. Only problem I have experienced with kits similar to these is an inability to get a reasonable idle (700-750rpm) when you have any kind of performance cam. I installed a Holley Terminator TBI on a 283 Chevy and the IAC was constantly fluctuating the idle until it stalled. It’s advertised as a “self learning” system, but no matter how long I drove it the results were still the same. Eventually I sent the car to a local GM Tuning Guru, he sent me the car back with a different cam, a lot less power, and a HUGE bill.
I’m not saying this kit may not be better, just sharing my story so others may not repeat the same mistake.

Speed density fuel injection doesn’t like big cams, it indirectly measures fuel mix using manifold vacuum and Throttle position. If your vacuum isnt strong and steady it will never run right

from what ive read around the ( web ) these kits work best on STOCK engines
