The RideTech Report: Street Grip Systems Are Shipping, Hidden Prizes, Cool Cars, And A 48-Hour Corvette Update

Fun fact to know and share. The high performance aftermarket industry takes but one tiny breather per year. That beautiful space between Christmas and New Year’s day is the time when most everyone takes a breather, reloads their cannon, and kisses their respective family on the cheek. Then? Then that cannon fires and we’re right back into the thick of an exciting explosion of new products, new projects, and prep for the upcoming season. RideTech’s latest report is certainly proof of that.

The company is shipping Street Grip systems (remember we installed serial #001!) and it is a pretty big deal. When a company takes a product from a clean sheet and actually begins shipping them it is akin to the launching of a ship. A big deal that should, and is being celebrated in the halls of RideTech. You’ll see how below. Someone is going to be a very happy camper when they open their box and realize that they have some free stuff coming their way.

The 48-Hour Corvette is getting cosmetically spruced up, there are cool customer cars, and even some video for your to enjoy below. Check it out!

RideTech Delivers!
StreetGrip Systems Now Shipping!

By the time some of you read this newsletter, the first StreetGrip systems will have already left the building! We truly believe these products are going to revolutionize the industry, opening up doors for new and existing enthusiasts that want the best without going over the top, want to keep some of their stock components, or want to do their suspension upgrades in stages. Because EVERY hotrodder should be able to enjoy driving their older musclecar as much as they enjoy driving their new Camaro! If you’d like to see the StreetGrip system in action, stay tuned; we plan on taking our StreetGrip-equipped fleet to shows across the country in 2016, and will release a schedule soon!

Today is the day all of us here at RideTech have been waiting for since early 2015; the first StreetGrip systems are heading out the door! To celebrate the occasion, RideTech President Bret Voelkel is including a congratulatory gift in the first system to ship today. Along with a personal note from Bret and the RideTech crew, we are going to give an awesome selection of goodies to the lucky buyer of this particular box! Since Bret’s favorite car is our white 1972 Chevelle, we’ll add this bonus into the very first 1968-1972 A-Body StreetGrip kit to leave the building on its way to Summit Racing.  The winner will find an envelope in the box with the personal greeting and instructions on claiming his or her swag.  For your chance to get this unique prize package, give Summit a call at 1-800-230-3030 and order your A-BodyStreetGrip system today!

2015 is gone, and we are all striding firmly into 2016. Over the holidays, Chris and his team were hard at work on the body of the Corvette, getting the finishing touches smoothed out and the first coat of the gelcoat on. vWhether we leave the gelcoat, paint, or re-wrap the car, we decided to stay with the yellow color scheme; not only does everyone recognize the car as that color, there are many small details (like the gauges and interior stitching) that are yellow, so the decision to keep it yellow was an easy one. Chris and his team are still hard at work on this beauty, and we’ll continue to update you as the project progresses!

We love to see our products in action!!!  If you’d like to submit your ride for a chance to be featured in our weekly newsletter, you can share it with us via social media or email.  And stay tuned to our Facebook page for chances to win cool RideTech stuff!

The most obvious advantage of a composite leaf spring is weight savings – our springs can save up to 70 pounds over conventional steel springs…but there are many additional advantages you may not know about!

Composite leafs will not de-arch over time the way many steel springs will.  The composite material will never corrode, so rust is no longer a concern.  They also possess more torsional strength than a steel spring, which helps reduce “spring wrap”.  Our eyelets are made from anodized, extruded aluminum, and are removable and serviceable.  We use Delrin bushings to remove some of the “slop” associated with conventional factory rubber, while still allowing the right amount of articulation and maintaining a great ride.

It’s important to mention that while these are new products for us, the technology has existed for a long time and has a history of durability & consistency in everything from street driven vehicles to the most demanding circle track applications.  If you’ve seen a Corvette built since 1980, you’ve seen composite leafs in action!

INSTALLATION TIP:  Our composite leafs rely on clamping force to hold them in position; the locating pin is only for establishing location during assembly.  When installing your springs, be sure that the spacer plates are in place above and below the spring (at least 1/16″) when torquing the u-bolts.  If your bottom clamping plate is significantly bent out of shape, this may present a problem that will need to be addressed.  If you have any questions about composite leaf springs or their application, please give us a call at 812-481-4787.
