Weld Racing reaffirmed its position atop the competition wheel food chain last weekend at the legendary Knoxville Nationals last weekend when Weld equipped cars won every single feature race at the most important the biggest sprint car race in the world.
While the stresses your wheels see on the street are big, the amount of abuse and punishment that a race car sees, especially one that spends its life sliding in dirt are incredible. The wheels bear the brunt of much of that smashing and banging and to know that Weld Racing equipped racers won EVERY feature at the toughest race in the world is pretty amazing.
Here’s the details on this very neat accomplismnent
Drivers on WELD Racing Wheels Sprint to Victory in all Features
Knoxville, IA. (August 17, 2016) – WELD Racing™ made its presence known during the 56th annual Knoxville Nationals. For almost five decades, WELD Racing’s roots have been planted deep into the dirt and clay of Iowa’s Knoxville Raceway. This year, WELD Racing reaffirmed its position as the leading performance wheel manufacturer for racers and race fans alike. Drivers on WELD Racing wheels claimed victory at all major event features during the four-day racing spectacular. Known as the “Woodstock” of Sprint Car racing, the Knoxville Nationals brings together top drivers and teams from 30 states, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. This event, known for its fierce competition, has the highest purse(s) in all of Sprint Car racing.
WELD Racing On-Track Success
In a race that will go down as one of the best ever during Knoxville Raceway’s history, Jason Johnson, “The Ragin’ Cajun”, running on WELD Racing wheels, had the fans on their feet cheering as he and Donny Schatz, running side-by-side, battled it out to the very end. When the checkered flag came out, it was Johnson crossing the line just ahead Schatz to claim the most prestigious and biggest prize in Sprint Car racing.
WELD Racing was also victorious earlier in the week at Knoxville Nationals when California’s Rico Abreu won on Friday night. WELD Racing also had a podium sweep on Thursday as drivers Tim Kaeding, Jason Johnson and Terry McCarl claimed the first, second and third place spots. During Wednesday’s night’s qualifying event, Shane Stewart opened up the annual event by holding off Donny Schatz.
WELD Racing Go-Kart Spectacular
This was the fourth year of WELD Racing sponsoring the Go-Kart Spectacular during the Knoxville Nationals. Proceeds from the Go-Kart Spectacular go to support the Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation for pediatric cancer research. Hundreds of fans poured into Slideways Karting Center in Knoxville, Iowa to see an all-star lineup of NASCAR and Sprint Car drivers racing against some of their biggest fans. NASCAR champions Gordon and Tony Stewart, 17-time Sprint Cup winner Kasey Kahne and 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Rookie of the Year Kyle Larson raced on behalf of the charity.
Isn’t that almost like saying, “Cars with tires win racing events!” these days?
