You may not have known this, but BangShift is an official SEMA member. One of the neat programs that SEMA champions is called “Take a Friend to a Race.” It is part of Motorsports Awareness Month, which is August. We know that’s six months away, but we also know you can check your local track schedules and plan for a fun day at the races now.
We’re obviously big proponents of racing in all of its forms. There are few places we’d rather be than at a race track, even better if we’re driving, but even if we are holding down the bleachers we love it all the same. The fact remains that the racing industry is a large part of the world of aftermarket performance parts. From exhaust systems for dirt bikes all the way up to pistons and rods for top fuelers, many people in this country make their way by providing parts to racers. Supporting the tracks and events they compete at, help to keep the industry viable and as they say, a rising tide floats all ships.
Aside from the business realities of the situation, there is something very cool about taking someone you know to a race who has never been. Maybe it is a trip to the local short track where cars are banging fenders and sliding sideways right there in front of you. Perhaps it is a tractor pull where farm tractors and custom built modifieds shake the ground or it could be the ultimate newbie experience, Top Fuel.
In the end, it doesn’t matter. Just go. Make the time now so you’re not making an excuse in August!
