Citing lingering neck issues tied to a motorcycle accident he had earlier this year, Michael Schumacher has announced that he will not be driving for Felipe Massa after all. The seven-time F1 champion said in a statement that his health outranks his desire to compete.
This comes as a blow to Ferrari who will now have to scramble to find a replacement for Felipe Massa, the driver struck in the head by an errant spring during the Hungarian GP several weeks ago.
There was obviously massive buzz about the return of Schumacher, but we have to respect the decision. We’re sure he wanted this more than anyone, but with a wife and kids, discretion is always the better part of valor.
