Stirling Moss to Drive Race Car Just Four Months After Falling Down Elevator Shaft

Stirling Moss, the great English race car driver is 80 years old. Four months ago, he somehow fell down an elevator shaft at his house, three stories down to be exact. The fall shattered his ankles like glass and damaged several vertebrae in his back. It was feared that he would never walk again. In news that proves you cannot keep a legend down, Moss will drive a vintage Maserati at an upcoming event at the Silverstone race track in England.

Not only is the guy going to drive the car, he plans on trying to break 150mph with it! This is not the first horrific set of injuries Moss has bounced back from. Little more than 50 years ago, Moss crashed his Forumla One car during the Belgian GP and broke both legs and his back. It took him just seven weeks for find his way back into the car after that.

Men like Moss are truly cut from a different cloth. Most 80 year old people would be instantly dead from a 30ft fall, never mind have the ability to walk again. Then you have Moss who heals like the comic book character Wolverine!

Recently Moss has gone on record in England saying that drivers over the age of 70 should be required to take periodic driving tests to make sure they are safe on the roads. Apparently a lot of old people that are younger than him got mad. He said he’s take the test without hesitation.

We’re glad to hear that he’s recovering and will be behind the wheel soon. We’re protective of our precious racing legends. They are getting harder and harder to come by.
