STOLEN: Roadkill’s “Mazdarati” Was Swiped By Some Pretty Ballsy Thieves! Help Us Locate The Olds-Powered REPU!

Nobody is ever going to accuse a car thief of being smart. Even if they had the skill set of Memphis Raines and the driving ability of the kid in Baby Driver, they still rank pretty low on the scale thanks to their one major decision-making flaw. You don’t take what doesn’t belong to you. Most people learned that when they were just a couple of years old. That’s one of the requirements for passing kindergarten, last I checked. It even ties in with the Golden Rule, that whole part about “do unto others…” But leave it to a couple of absolute geniuses to pull off this stunt.

The “Mazdarati”, a 1974 Mazda REPU with an Oldsmobile 455 and THM-125 transaxle swap, was stolen from the front of a hotel in Blythe, California. Think about that for a second: someone, in the middle of the night, walked up to a trailer, undid all of the tie-downs, moved a dead, bright yellow truck with a giant engine in the bed off of the trailer and magically made that truck disappear into the night. Either the thieves have cojones the size of bowling balls or they are so stupid they are geniuses. Either way, they have something that doesn’t belong to them and we will always do our part to help recover someone’s stolen ride if we can.

As usual, we don’t condone vigilante justice (openly)…we just want the truck returned to the rightful owners. Keep your eyes peeled on Craigslist and other markets for possible parts sales and let’s hope that the little rear-engined wonder returns with all of it’s items intact.

Whoever stole this truck had to know what they were taking. No way they lived in a cave! What is the truck worth now with a dead engine anyway?

Few too many Coronas for Freidberger to notice someone was pushing a dead truck off the back of his trailer and onto another I guess…

People so used to seeing them work on an push their junk around , no one thought anything was going on out of the norm !

Seriously though , there are some people that don’t read Hot Rod Magazine or have a computer. They are going to wish they did .

I don’t suppose this hotel has a single security camera outside?

This thief knew that it was dead. Knew he would have to tow it away and prepared for it. That means they were aware of it being there, or nearby. My guess, he was at wherever they were at that day, track, etc. Probably someone who spent a lot of timing gawking over it.

there are a lot of ancient jet boats there, I guess stealing a blown up 455 is more cost effective than buying one for 2-300 bucks

I think that Roadkill got so pissed off with this heap of shit that they staged the theft themselves for the $10 insurance pay off to spend on beer…

All of the engine parts are now in a jet boat and the shell will appear in a few weeks. That is my guess
