Take A Listen To Kawasaki’s New Supercharged Superbike Engine

Kawasaki’s Ninja series of street bikes are legendary for their speed and are right up there with the Suzuki “Gixxer” and Yamaha R6. Recently Kawasaki have been teasing up their upcoming Ninja H2 debut in Germany later this month, and instead of shadow pictures, they released this video showcasing the noise of a new, supercharged four-cylinder that is certainly under 1,000cc and might even be as small as 600cc. There’s a nearly-indistinguishable hissing that might be the blower, but the tell-tale is a blow off valve chirps during shifts.

Kawasaki must be looking at a lighter package to reach the top of the class, and figured a smaller motor was the best way to go after the big literbikes. The approach is smart, considering the stupidly-fast speeds that even a good 600cc bike can hit and their improved agility. If you’re a fan of bikes, this will be one to watch for.

(The bike pictured is the current-generation Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R, due to be replaced.)

Wastegates are for turbos to control boost pressure on the exhaust side. A dump valve/blow off valve is to relieve pressure in the charge piping. Which is the flutter/chirp you are hearing.

Someone needs to look up what a wastegate is. The Author obviously has no idea. PROTIP: Supercharger setups don’t have them. Also, that isn’t the sound of a wastegate. Wastegates are part of a turbocharger setup, they open to allow exh gasses to bypass the turbine in order to control the amount of boost. Obviously there would be no need, and no place to even put one one a supercharged setup. The exhaust just goes out like normal, not through a turbo. What you are hearing is a bypass valve (also known as a blow off valve) which opens when the throttle closes to prevent the boost from basically (and I am VERY oversimplifying this) backing up between the supercharger (or turbocharger) and the throttlebody. Come on man, basic fact checking isn’t too much to ask.

not bad sounding bike I’d give it a chance when you guys work out the bugs you talk about with horsepower . but it sounds like you off to a good start with weight so keep it up like to hear more when you get things work out give me updates I also love testing out vehicles and other things and giving my input I’d like to hear back from you .
