If you don’t follow the Metalist on YouTube, trust me when I tell you that they make some really cool shop tools and equipment. What’s cool is that you can watch the video and see what they are building, how complicated it is or isn’t, and how it works when done, all before committing to buying the plans for your own. Once you’ve watched and decided this is the project for you, then you just click the link and you can buy the plans for less than $25.
And if you watch the video and see how this goes together, it is also scalable. So if you want a smaller brake than this one, you can just narrow it up some. If you actually need a wider one, you can expand it as well. There are a lot of ways to go on this one, that’s for sure. I think this would be a fun one to build for my shop too.

I had already built one, and based on that, I designed this one.
It now has a quick-release fastener that can be easily adjusted to suit the material thickness. The segment system also works well. I also wanted to build it as light and flexible as possible so that it works not only on a welding table but also on any wood workbench.
