I dig Cafe Racer bikes. Whether you call it a Cafe Racer or a Bar Hopper bike, they are cool to me. Simple, naked, and ready for fun, a Cafe Racer doesn’t actually have to be fast to be cool. It’s more the look, the feel, and the fun aspect that makes these bikes so popular and that led to their “invention” in the UK in the 1960s. They were factory bikes that were modified to look cooler and be fun in spirited short-distance rides from cafe to cafe on the weekends. Motorcycle enthusiasts have been doing these kinds of rides since they first started getting together, riding from spot to spot to shoot the breeze and have fun with like-minded enthusiasts. Some of the world’s most famous motorcycle stops got that way from these weekend riders and their cruises.
In these videos you are going to see a guy try to make a 1981 Yamaha XV750 Virago into a cool Cafe Racer and if you know anything about a Virago you know that this is going to be a tough one. There is nothing cool about a Virago to me, so let’s see if he’s successful. Do you think he can pull it off? I think we’re going to watch and see!
Here are the first three videos in the series.
