I’m a huge fan of metal shaping videos on YouTube and have a ton of respect for the guys and gals that make custom sheet metal panels for hot rods and customs. And I love metal shaping tools. I would love to have an English wheel, planishing hammer, shrinking stump, etc., and not just have them look cool in the shop, but also learn to use them. With that said, technology is an amazing thing and it’s nuts what trick tools can actually do. This new technology from Figur is truly mind blowing.
I know it’s not sexy, but it is still pretty darn cool. Scanning and creating a 3d programmed shape, that these tools can then make from a sheet of flat steel or aluminum may not be as artistic, but man it is impressive. You have to see this.
