Making A Giant Vise From A Picture In Popular Mechanics In 1957

When Jason at Fireball Tool comes up with a plan, watch out. He builds some of the coolest stuff on earth and he does so using a lot of cool tools you can get from him as well. I happen to own several of his squares and can tell you that if you are a welder then you need them. I have found no finer squares for the money and they will help you make MUCH better quality projects because they are precise and designed by a welder for welders. But that’s not what this video is about.

This video is about Jason opening up one of his old Popular Mechanics magazines to see what might be in one that he could build for a fun project and in this one it was a big vise. It’s cool, but Jason see’s some issues with it, and I have a feeling that he will have a follow up with even more cool tweaks but his adjustments made this into a cool vise for you woodworking guys anyway. Check it out.

Video Description:

I dive into my old collection of Popular Mechanics magazines to be inspired to build! I find a vise made by Pete Logan and decide to fabricate it! I come up with the plans and build it exactly how it looks, including all the problems I find. I weld, torch, drill, and grind my way to test the final version. How does it perform?
