When you open up your toolbox to get a pair of tin snips out, do you wonder why you have both red and green and which one to use where? Well you are not alone. With that said, paying attention to this video will help you know which ones to use when and how. Trust us, there is more too this than you’d think but that makes it way easier to know what you should be doing with the snips in your box. In this video, Ron Covell shows you the types of “tin snips”, how they are often used, how they should really be used, and tips for making them your friend in the shop.

I’ll admit it, I’ve been using tin snips for decades and am always confused on which ones I should use where. In fact, I have found them so annoying over the years that I find myself often using some other tool to cut my sheet metal. Thanks to Ron’s video I better understand why I sometimes have no issues with them and sometimes can’t seem to cut anything without distortion. It turns out that left and right aircraft snips do have specific uses, but in reality both can be used in nearly every circumstance. Watch and learn, and listen to Ron because he’ll save you some money by keeping you from buying tools you do not need.
