Sheet Metal How To: Using The Cut And Butt Method To Install Sheet Metal Body Panels

If you aren’t familiar with the Cutt and Butt method of sheet metal replacement, you need to be. A lot of YouTubers give credit to Fitzee for teaching them how to do it in his videos online, and I can tell you that I have watched a bunch of his videos and have used his methods to change my process and it is much better than ever. Not only will the cut and butt method make your sheet metal replacement nicer, it will also make it MUCH easier on you. This is the right way to replace panels when doing custom bodywork, rust replacement, etc. It will not only make it a faster process but also make your metal finishing easier and cleaner so that the bodywork you have to do will be considerably less.

Fitzee isn’t fancy, but he is fun, and he is a great resource to learn how to make panels. He does a great job, with simple tools that in many cases can be made by you at home, so you will want to check him out.

The panel being replaced on the back of this custom in his shop was made in several other videos so you can go back and watch those too if you want to see the metal shaping happening.
