The Hack Job General Lee: Update, Light at the End of the Tunnel

It’s been a while since we updated you on the progress of the Hack Job General Lee, a car that looked great in online photos but that turned out to be one of the all-time greatest works of automotive butchery. The rework started with a rollbar redo, but ended up as the entire disassembly and rebuilding of a Dodge Charger.

The good news is that after replacing or repairing just about every inch of sheetmetal on the car, the vehicle is moving ever closer to a date in the paint booth. In talking with car owner Jeff, it’s clear that he’s maintained his sense of humor through the darkest days of this project and now that it’s turned the corner he’s soon be enjoying the rebuilt, revised, and rehabbed car.

Once it hits the pavement again, we’re going to run a full feature on the car to show off the work of the craftsmen involved in its re-, re-construction.

The shop that the car currently resides in wants to keep its name out of this for at least a little while. They are busy enough that they don’t want to be swamped with another round of calls.

Take a peek at a couple photos Jeff shot of the current progress being made on the car. It won’t be long now until the General is out there harassing the neighborhoods of Southern Massachusetts.
