This weekend the World Footbrake Challenge goes down at Bristol, Tennessee. Thunder Valley will have a field of nearly 400 of the deadliest, most cold blooded footbrake drag racers in the world and they’ll be smacking each other around from Friday until Sunday. Our pal Mark Walter and his J-Angel Productions company will be there all weekend starting tomorrow to broadcast the race. If you are a fan of true grassroots drag racing, you need to tune in and watch some of the best bracket racers in the country get it done. No delay boxes or other fancy pants electronics, just a gas pedal and a brake pedal and the skills of the driver are involved here.

Bristol, TN – In the world of bracket racing it seems the super pro dragsters are always racing for big money. Several years ago, Jared Pennington, an avid and world class footbrake racer, decided it was time for the door car/footbrake guys to get some recognition. Along with friend Steve Sites, Jared created what has become the most prestigious footbrake race in the country, The World FootBrake Challenge.
This event has becoming bigger and better with each passing year. It’s held at the picturesque Bristol Dragway aka ‘Thunder Valley’. This is it’s 6th year and every race has been held at Bristol. “We are super stoked about this year’s race,” stated Pennington, “we already have over 330 pre-entries. We are completely blown away by the response of the footbrake community.”
To add to the prestige of the event, Coalburg Racing Promotions has contracted J-Angel Productions to webcast all three days of the event. “When I saw what Mark and crew did at the Spring Fling in May, I knew we had to have them for the WFC,” Pennington explained, “Wide-screen format, four cameras from different angles and instant replays of significant events, it doesn’t get any better.”

We had a technical issue with our satellite system on Thursday that prevented us from streaming the race.
We are very sorry…we hated it for Jed, the sponsors, the racers, their crews and families. I’m a footbrake racer myself…I don’t know if I can express how disappointed I am we could not make this happen this weekend.
We are working diligently with the satellite provider to fix the problem. It will probably be next week before we have everything squared away.
