The Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational is kind of like the Super Bowl of Pro Touring events. The competition draws out the hardest core cars in the country and from around the globe to do battle in several different competitions that test all of different elements of the competition vehicles. There’s the braking test, the autocross, the road course hot lap, the road rally, and on and on.

The cars vary from old school muscle machines like vintage Camaros and Mustangs all the way up to modern Corvettes and luxury exotics. This year it was a late model Corvette that took the trophy home, but the margin was razor thin between it and the awesome Red Devil vintage Camaro of Mark Stielow.

Optima goes all out on this thing, which includes a big production operation for the television coverage. We’re talking a bunch of camera, a helicopter, and remote cameras stuck to virtually anything that moves. We’re looking forward to watching the show, which will air for the first time as a hour-long special on SPEED this Sunday, February 25th at 2:00PM Eastern Standard Time. If you aren’t going to be home, fire up the DVR and save it for when you will be there to see it!
