Great news for Northeast-area drag racers, Lebanon Valley Dragway is undergoing some nice touchups this off season. The track has been resurfaced and the restrooms are being rebuilt and brought out of the 1890s and into the current decade.
Admittedly I have a personal affection for the place as it was the first track that was dumb enough to allow me to announce races. I worked under track manager Glenn Grow, but he’s long gone now.
LVD is a great track in eastern New York that is frequented by racers from just about every New England state. It was one of the tracks that Shirley Muldowney frequented in the formative years of her career driving Gas dragsters with her first husband Jack.
The place has history, a very unique charm, and now bathrooms that don’t resemble those found in a Turkish prison. Life is GOOD! They also have a real, old school, Funny Car on a pole. Seriously.
