Long story short, Bobby Regester lost the handle on his Pontiac Sunbird on the wrong corner at Pikes Peak. There was no guardrail or barrier to protect him from a sickening wreck that sent the car flying through the air and flipping down the embankment towards oblivion.
Thankfully for Resgester, Sunbirds don’t fly or roll that good and the car came to a rest on the wheels. After several long moments Regester was able to climb out, wave to the crowd, and even take a freaking bow! You have to love race car drivers!
Regester is no fly by night dude. He is a former IRL racer who lives on Pikes Peak, selling real estate in the area. He has won his class several times (Super Stock) in the very Pontiac he launched off the mountain in this video. His last win was in 2007 as best we can tell.
We have two videos, the first of the wreck, and the second of him climbing out!
He needs a ‘chute!
My son that lives in Golden,Co took several high quality pictures and he wants to show and send to the driver. Somebody can help me with his email or phone. I just arrived to Chile my country and I saw the race and the accident,it would be easer if somebody gets in touch with Cris my son.
