And Now It’s Time For A Junkyard Trip With Your Host, Mr. Regular! Will He Find A New Powertrain For His Falcon?

And Now It’s Time For A Junkyard Trip With Your Host, Mr. Regular! Will He Find A New Powertrain For His Falcon?

In case you were unaware, Mr. Regular of Regular Car Reviews bought himself a 1960 Ford Falcon. It’s a nice car, but when he tried to drive the Falcon from Tennessee to…well, wherever in the Northeast he lives, the inline six decided that enough was enough and started puking coolant like Linda Blair with a case of severe food poisoning. The little Ford wound up on a flatbed and Mr. Regular faced the decision: should he keep plugging along with the six, or should he perform an engine swap?

Well, we find our host in a junkyard, so we will assume that he chose option B. His target goal is a 302ci V8 and an AOD overdrive automatic, a nice combination for a restomod project on a budget. But where will he find a useable gem like that in a junkyard? Is it even worth digging through a junkyard for an engine that will need to be checked over thoroughly before it can be installed? What other treasures will be discovered in this yard? Special cars? Bees? Who knows?

holy… uh… no spark plugs on that oil burning “351” … maybe he should get the six cylinder rebuilt.

Why does this guy think that a junkyard engine needs to be rebuilt out of the gate? Check compression, and spark. Pour some fresh gas in and kick it over. Take the valve covers off and check for sludge. I’ve had several junkyard motors drop right in and run for years.

I have to say his knowledge of cars in general is pretty poor….any thing in a junkyard needs rebuilding `pistons out, down to the block’ – uh, why?? Maybe get someone else to do your swap mate…I’d hate to see you trying to get a late 302 EFI motor running with computers, smartlock etc..

Clueless. And by the way that mysterious box with the key in it? It’s a anti theft bypass module for remote start. Hire somebody.
