Awesome Video: A Helmet-Cam View of a Wheelstander Run

We’ve always wanted to drive a wheelstander and this video really sealed the deal for us. Shot from a helmet-cam, it shows just how wild and wacky these machines are. The video comes from Australia and the car shown is the Aussie Bandit, a wheelstanding ‘ute.

We initially thought that the car had some kind of yellow strobe light on the roof, but then we realized that it was simply the glow from the humongo header flames shooting from the rear mounted, alky swilling, big block Chevy. Don’t bother paying attention to the driver’s feet. Once he gets this thing off the ground (OK, half way off the ground) he is steering with two brake handles to the driver’s right.

It is amazing to see how much this car wags back and forth while in the air and how the driver is sawing the wheel back and forth to make sure the machine lands with the wheels pointing in the right direction.

This is an e-ticket ride!
