BangShift Burnout Battle fever has crossed over the ocean and landed in jolly ol’ England! This week we have for your viewing and voting pleasure a beautiful 1964 Buick Skylark ripping tires in the driveway and a Jimmy Carter Oldsmobile 88 melting down some radials to the cords in England.
In this corner…
We have Chris in his 1964 Buick Skylark. Aside from the el perfecto black paint, nice wheels, and presumably killer inerior, this thing is Buick to the core. The tire melter motor is a Buick 455 with TA Performance Stage 2 heads, backed by a TH350 and a rear end packing a set of 3.55 gears. Burning out up the driveway and towards the garage? Hell, the dude who won last week actually burned out IN his garage!
In this corner…
We have Dave from Lancashire, England. Dave is sitting in an Oldsmobile Delta 88 of the late 1970s/early 1980s variety. On the best day of its life this thing may have had a 403 in it that made about 180hp. Chances are it is a 307, or worse. Anemic power aside, the engine makes enough torque to lay the thunder on a set of poor radials. Listen closely as Dave is literally smoked out of the car. Funny stuff!
That olds rocked the burnout contest.
Clearly the Olds, the car is uglier but puts out so much more smoke.
The other guy does get points for doing that in his driveway, last time I did that, the garage door was closed and I opened it with the front of my truck… OOOPSIE
That one was fun to explain to the wife.
haha is that Dave puking…nice vid..love the olds
1. “Go and Whoa” is not the hot set-up for tire poppin’ madness. Invest in a line lock or maybe some wheel chocks if you want big smoke.
2. “Pulling the lanyard” on your “howitzer with wipers” (old Buick guys will get this reference) while aimed at your house . . . not the best plan.
3. The smoldering carcass of the Olds’ tire showed definite signs of underinflation (edges shreaded with the tread center still intact) Proper inflation usually means more smoke before the tortured meats delaminate.
4. Maybe a respirator is a good tip if you’re going to burn ’em down on a still, damp day.
