BangShift Sunday Movie Day: A Pair Of Massive Trucks Engage In A Tug Of War Battle – Ford Versus Dodge!

At the Vermonster event last weekend, Dave Nutting and I got a kick out of seeing some of the big “mega-truck” class competitors hook up in a tug of war. At the Vermster Snow Bog, there was a layer of glare ice under the snow, making traction a limited proposition so typically the guy with the biggest..ummm….guts that would hold the pedal down the longest would win. In this video, the trucks are on a concrete pad but it looks like they have spent the day slogging through the swamp as mud is present from their roofs to the bottoms of their huge Rockwell top loader axles.

Because both of these trucks are on tractor tires, traction on concrete is at a minimum. The drivers don’t spare the rod though and I’m not sure I have ever seen two guts generate more smoke out of these style tires than the fellows in this video. Make no mistake, the rubber on these trucks is big time expensive and the compound on a tractor tire isn’t like a street tire. They are designed to chip and dig, so when they get really hot and smoke, they come apart in chunks!

Automotive fun comes in all shapes and sizes. If you’ve never gotten out to the mud bogs, a hill-n-hole meet, or a place where mega-trucks are allowed to run wild…do it. You’ll have a freaking blast. Drink some beer, pick mud out of your teeth, and cheer on egregious displays of horsepower!
