Where do old semi tractors go when they die? If they are lucky, they get handed down through a series of owners before unceremoniously winding up at the back of a field somewhere as the old truck that they will fix up “some day”. Most just go straight to the scrapper. This 1984 Peterbilt 359 somehow managed to avoid both fates, and is now a rolling hot rod of a grand scale. We aren’t digging calling it a “rat rod”…honestly, we’re sick of the term…but the Pete is down on the ground and the Cummins is out on display for the world to see. Meek? Not in the least. A repurposed semi truck isn’t the first thing a lot of people think of when it comes to a hot rod, but we dig seeing old metal getting a new life, and running around as a hot rod certainly beats another round of dragging a trailer around for another million miles!
Would make a styl’in RV hauler.
Rat rods are covered in rust and muddy shit – this is a thing of sublime beauty!
Its ride seems as smooth as velvet and cruising the highway with all that torque the motor seems to be revving at not much above tickover. Which could translate it to a surprisingly good amount of miles per gallon. So its got form and function to die for!
