Okay, so you’re on board with building a monster Power Wheels kit like the guys at Grind Hard Plumbing Co. have been doing for a bit. Cool…we hope your life insurance is paid up! Er…scratch that. We hope you have a ball once this project is done. But if you haven’t seen the first installment of the series, you might want to start there. After all, building the basic frame that is going to support the weight of one adult human, one motorcycle engine and all of the bells and whistles is a necessity. What, did you think the plastic tub was going to be enough? Nope, not by a long shot. Start there first, then come back here, because part two is going to bring in one of the most important parts of the contraption: control. How do you control 100 pounds of “bad decision” wrapped up as a children’s toy? Three things: the throttle, the brakes, and the steering. The throttle and brakes will come later, but since the engine isn’t in yet, we’re oaky leaving them alone for now. The gas is always an option, and the brakes are nice, but you have to be able to control the direction of the rig first and foremost, right? That’s “yes”…do you steer onto the open path that you can coast down on, or do you hope you have enough brakes before this garage-built wonder dives off into the blackberry thicket? Think about it for a second…then hit play and get back to the shop and to work!
