Caption This: One Way Or Another, You’re Taking A Bath!
The satisfaction that comes with seeing tons of metal hit the water for the first time and stay above it is universal. It floats…that means job well done, another vessel has hit the water, humanity’s fairly solid record of making heavier-than-water vehicles float is still intact. But seeing that transition from land-based shell to water-based vessel is just so satisfying. Okay, maybe not for those who build in dry-dock and safely float the hull once it’s ready. That sucks. No, instead we’re all about sending that sucker straight into the water with the same grace and gentleness that your uncle had when he learned that you were five years old and didn’t know how to swim…that’s right, straight to the deep end with you, hope for the best!

Side-launching a vessel is always great because you get that mini-tsunami wave that comes along with it. Just like that time you stood on the bridge that spanned over the log flume ride, once foreign object displaces water at speed, water has to go someplace immediately away from the weight. So, once the hull of this tugboat flops into the estuary, the tidal wave heads out…directly for one unassuming cameraman who probably needed a week alone with a hair dryer afterwards.

“humanity’s fairly solid record of making heavier-than-water vehicles float”

I’m looking forward to the explanation on how a submarine works…
