Chopping The Top: Not Easy, But No Fear Is A Great Start, Watch This Henry J Get Shorter

I’ve never chopped the top on a car or truck. I want to, but I just haven’t yet. I’ve seen it done in videos and understand what needs to happen, but I also know that depending on how you do it the results can vary dramatically. The look and feel you are going for matter a lot, as does your plan for window glass and such. If you are prepared to completely move around the roof, pillars, etc then the exercise is completely different than if you are going to keep the stock attachment points in place. In other words, the more outrageous the custom the less complicated it can be. Not always, but sometimes.

Here are a couple of cool videos from Rat Rod Rob Builds showing him working on the roof height of his cool Rat Rod henry J. I kinda dig a good Henry J, so I’m interested in seeing just how this project ends up when done. Sure, it’s only a body and some wheels right now but you and I both know this thing could end up epic if he rolls with it just the right way. Lets see. Rob’s methods are a little rough, but it’s part of his charm. Watch.

All he had to do was watch the episode of “Full Custom Garage” where Ian chopped one of those already and he could’ve seen how to do it.

This should be dropped on each and every airbagged rat truck built in the last couple of years, then done a second time.

Just because it can be done is not necessarily the reason to do something….
