There is something about the way a properly pissed-off AMC V8 sounds that, to my ears at least, is unlike any other V8 made. They are deep-throated engines, snotty, with a mid-range that sounds like a large-bore big-block than anything else. Or maybe I’m off my rocker, who knows…both are possibilities. What can’t be denied is that the Jeep CJ-7 that this particular 304 is bolted to was putting all of that engine’s power to good use at a Tough Truck course in Lebanon, Pennsylvania seven years ago. MidnightMadness4x4 dug up the older footage from back in the day and recently uploaded it, claiming that this is the best run that he’s ever filmed. We might disagree…he’s the one behind the Tough Truck Mustang videos we’ve shown you here recently. But there’s no denying that you could put that noise on repeat and I’d listen to it for a while as the CJ-7 does four-wheel-drive donuts around tractor tires in the middle of the course!
