It isn’t too often you can get Cleetus McFarland out of his comfort zone. Whether it be petting bald eagles, doing burnouts in a Mustang with a crowd present, or even the one time we know he got behind the wheel of a (gasp!) imported product, he seems to find himself right at home…which makes seeing him behind the wheel of Kari Bahus’ Chevrolet Blazer, known as “Open Container”. Maybe it was the allusion to a freshly opened beer that drew him in, or maybe it’s seeing that Kari can run this monster down the quarter in the 11-second range without the use of his legs…that’s right, Kari is paraplegic, and the Blazer is built so that he can run it wherever he damn well pleases, be it the strip or the street. Cleetus still has his facilities in perfectly functioning order, but for this run, he’s going to try out the hand controls…in a truck that usually lifts the front end up. Cleetus can ride a pitbike on it’s back wheel all day long, we saw it at Beech Bend first-hand, but he has never gone wheels-up on the quarter. This should be good…
