Cool Video: A Huge Custom Unimog Struts Its Stuff

Unimogs are bad ass 4x4s, and modified Unimogs are even better than that. This video shows a totally tricked out Unimog built by Couch Off Road Engineering for the firearms company Magpul Industries. The truck has been converted into a bus of sorts and rides on massive tires, has a worked over diesel motor, and a bunch of custom fab work to boot. We want this truck!

Developed in Germany after WWII, the Unimog was initially intended to be an agricultural tool. It was essentially a multi-purpose tractor. Over the years it has been configured to do just about everything. There are multiple military versions, dozens of different attachments that can be used around the farm, and event armored versions.

They use portal axles and frames that are designed to twist giving them both lots of ground clearance and the ability to crawl over lots of uneven terrain. They can climb grades of more than 70% when loaded and can literally climb walls when they are empty.

The one, with its lugged, tractor style tires, is a true monster.
