Cool Video: Dr Jamie Meyer of GM Shows Six Significant Performance Cars From Chevy’s History

Chevrolet turns 100 this year and the company plans to celebrate that fact loud and proud during the 2011 Woodward Dream Cruise in and around Detroit. In this video, Dr. Jamie Meyer, one of the driving forces of performance inside GM takes us for a quick walk through the GM Heritage Center and along the way he highlights six of the most famous high performance cars in Chevrolet’s history.

Sure, this video doesn’t break a whole lot of new ground for the die hard gearhead, but any time we get to see footage from the inside of one of the world’s greatest collection of historic and awesome cars, we’re tuning in. Long time readers will remember the gallery we shot and posted when Mike Copeland, formerly of GM Performance, now at Lingenfelter too us for the tour.  (CLICK HERE TO SEE IT

Press play below to watch the video, the bonus for late model fans comes at the end with some sexy footage of the new Camaro ZL1!

the 57 Chevy wasnt the car that started the performance street cars. That would be the 50’s 300C 331-392 Hemi Chrysler.

NO Corvette Grand Sport ever competed at LeMans.
Grand Sport coupes 003, 004, and 005 competed at the Nassau Speed Weeks in 1963 and at Sebring in 1964, and roadster 001 ran at Sebring in 1966. But No Grand Sport ever ran at LeMans.
