The dudes that ride Top Fuel Harleys have giant stainless steel balls. Seriously, their testicles are bullet proof and you can hear them clank when they walk. Some would argue that all the cells normally reserved for your brain have moved farther south because nobody in their right mind would ride one of these beasts. I for one will drive just about anything with 4 wheels, but there is NO WAY I’m climbing aboard one of these bastards. Clearly, my balls are not big enough, nor made from the correct material. Chris Matheson, who rides the “Top Bike” seen in this video is one of the crazies from the ANDRA series who carries the correct pair for the job.
What is most interesting about this video is the fact that at no point during the run, from start to finish, does this bike want to go down the track straight. At the hit it’s bad. In the middle it’s bad. And the end though, it gets really bad. Cause at “way too fast to put your feet down” speed, Chris exits stage right comes off this crazy machine in grand fashion. He is actually smoking while sliding from the friction between his leathers and the track. If you listen carefully, you’ll hear Chris’ balls clanging off the ground at about 1500 feet. It’s nuts.

This video is scary, like Wes Craven, horror movie scary. Why didn’t he back off before he decided to hop off? I’m glad my nards are not like this guys. My life may be less exciting, but it’s a lot safer. These bikes are great to watch until things like this happen. I hope this guy has a long safe career as a rider from here on out.
Why did he bail out? It looked like a typical drag bike run.
He didnt bail out, his hand lost grip on the bars and he was blown off, at 230MPH you have no chance of regaining the grip.
It isn’t a Harley. 4 cylinder Jap crap that has been as quick as 6ohs. That is a hard hit at that speed. The bike ended up in the catch net on the bank at the end of the property. Took the net off the retaining posts I believe.

I have seen one drag bike make a pass in my life. And it crashed. Bad. Guy got sandwiched between the bike and the wall. Dude was alright though get up and walked away, clanking
the guys left hand came off the handle bar, wind caught it and took him off the bike, once the wind catches you at that speed your body becomes an airfoil
This is not only not a HD it is neither “jap crap”, it is in fact the ex Jimmy Brantley PUMA powered blown nitro burning 4 cyl that J.B. had ridden in to the 5.90’s on at least several occasions, Chris Matheson the man in the crash has recently purchased the ex Doug Vancil nitro HD that Mr. Vancil rode to numerous records ,and championships with Vance and Hines sponsorship.

“Jap crap?” Whatever idiot. Anyway, it could have been an electrical malfunction like Spiderman suffered in which the handlebars become energized by the ignition system and shocked him.
OK, the obvious question, is he alright?? Looked like he rolled to distribute the abrasion as evenly as possible.

You can see he loosens his left hand grip slightly and the 230mph wind just whips him off.
I heard he broke a foot and has severe road rash.

He made the mistake of sitting up to soon. He gathered up the scary start, then had a sweet run to the end of the quarter. But then he sat up way to soon, blew him off the bike!

Has there ever been a “good” run on one of these?? I’ve never seen one go even kinda straight. Someone was watching over this guy.
First and foremost, there is nothing “japcrap” on these bikes. Everything is custom built. Now I have helped raced several Top Fuel Harleys and for the most part they are the same way. CUSTOM BUILT! NITROMETHANE IS BRUTAL! Another incorrect fact by “Jap Crap” was that Larry Mcbride has been as quick as I believe 5:70’s if not quicker! No one and I mean NO ONE will ever get a V-Twin to run like the 4 cyl’s! Those machines are BAD ASS! They are like a Top Fuel dragster cut in half! That wreck on the video is similar to the fatal crash that claimed the life of the man that perfected these bikes, ELMER TRETT! Had the honor of getting to know him! R.I.P. my friend.
