Crazed Drag Racing Video: Out of Control and Going the Wrong Way Up the Strip

Crazed Drag Racing Video: Out of Control and Going the Wrong Way Up the Strip

Imagine a drag race where car launch from the top end area and speed up the track, using the starting line of the strip as their shut down area. This is footage from such a race, called King of the Concrete, held at Thunder Valley Raceway in Noble, Oklahoma. Run like a street race with a flashlight start, the point of the event is to have the cars launch on the unprepared surface at the end of the track to best simulate the conditions of racing on the street.

Troy Scott, the engine builder and brother of 2005 Drag Week champion Carl Scott was racing at the event in his totally insane Opel GT. In this video, he becomes the unintentional stunt driver of the week by barely avoiding a catastrophic wreck a couple of times in mere seconds.

The premise of the event is awesome, the idea of keeping street racing off the roads is great, but we still think that you need to have a couple screws loose to do this, especially in a car as shag nasty as Troy’s Opel. Hell, we had to clean out our shorts after seeing this. Troy Scott has nerves of steel and driving skills to match!

If you’ve ever spent time with Troy, then watch this video – I think that’s the most excited and talkative he’s ever been!!!! normally that guy is as cool as a cucumber, even when winning a drag week event!

It’s always good to see old friends again. Glad he’s okay!

I worked at Thunder Valley in 91. Where he spun out is right where I used to stand and pair up cars during elim’s. That’s some crazy sh**.

We lost a horsepower pioneer (Todd Wilkes) here in Australia at Eastern Creek Raceway doing a similarly stupid thing when his car plowed into a concrete wall at over 200km/h and burst into flames. The event organisers thought it was smart to have them racing down the track for greater top speeds. Sadly none of those organisers were charged with the driver’s death.
You can still find info on the internet about the inquiry and case.

I stopped watching those TV shows because of this stupid shit! How many kids have been hurt or killed trying the idiotic crap they see in those lame ‘Fast and Fucked Up” movies! Now they’re gonna wanna try this!

Not the SMARTEST thing to do IMO.

I think he was just very lucky. I can only image that eventually its going to end bad for someone. (hopefully not a fatality)

As said above in Australia – I can’t for the life of me understand why someone is at a perfectly good dragstrip and what the hell we’ll race the other way MMMMM.

Great the guy wasn’t hurt ,but I don’t get it.

Brian, I’m kinda surprised that you praise this sort of stupidity.

“Troy Scott has nerves of steel and driving skills to match”. Really?

And yeah, I see where you covered your butt with, “have a couple screws loose to do this”.

Nothing here but a group silly men.
