There’s a major reason that racing series, track operators, and even lots of racers themselves cringe at the thought of having large numbers of people in very close proximity to an active race track. This video is absolutely proof that their fears and concerns are 100% valid. As you will see, there’s a group of import cars lapping a road course. A large number of fans are behind a wall that appears to run along the front straight of this particular course. As the cars are coming off the corner, you can see a large group of hay bales placed in an area where someone may contact the wall if carrying too much speed around this one corner. Little did anyone know that those bales would nearly result in a large number of people being squashed or otherwise wounded by an errant car.
Stuff goes from normal to weird at the :23 mark and it was a pretty lucky situation that the car didn’t skid directly along the wall and wound the people hanging over it, but moved out towards the center of the track and harmlessly skidded to a stop on its roof a decent distance down from where the video was taken. Shortly thereafter, people begin stopping on the course and others can be seen jumping over the wall and running toward to upturned car. The people that stopped on the track jumped out of their cars and beat feet for the Subaru. While a valiant action, who is to say that an ambulance can get through with a traffic jam of 20 cars in the way? This video is crazy and the kid who shot it was in the right place at the wrong time!

“Duuuude”…….”Sweeet”
Hay bales, speed, and early apexing don’t mix.
No helmets . . . no course marshals . . . no crowd control . . . .
This is why I always avoid stupid people in large groups.
Sadly the larger the groups get, the dumber the people become.
“Race Car…”…. LOL… righttttt
OH MY GOD!!! OH MY GOD!!
Another wanna’ be pilot runs out of talent
Ken Block would not be pleased
I’d like to know who put this “event” together, it looks like a lawsuit just waiting to happen.
This happened at Toronto Motorsports Park (about an hour away from Toronto) a few years ago. Hay bales are for motorcycles, not cars! Story we heard was that the car didn’t even belong to the driver. I’ve been there a few times for cheap lapping days, very little control over the proceedings, with a huge variance in vehicle and driver capabilities.
