Out of all of the companies that are celebrating the passing of the Low-Volume Motor Vehicles Replica Act, DeLorean Motor Company (the one in Texas, not the original) was probably celebrating the hardest. DMC has been sitting on the stockpile of spare parts that Consolidated International (better known as “Big Lots”) acquired when the original DMC went under, and they knew that they had enough on hand to potentially put together about 300 new build DMC-12 cars, but it’s only with the new law that they legally can put together cars. Think of the upcoming DMC-12s in the same concept as a Singer 911…the shape and overall flavor of the original will remain, but there will be upgrades, especially in the engine bay since the new cars have to meet current emission regulations. As the company prepares to get their ducks in a row for upcoming production, they felt a need to say thank you to everyone that supported them by offering up this video. We will leave the interpretation up to you, but we’re glad to see some kind of good fortune come to the name.
And in case anybody at DMC is reading this, a suggestion: look under the hood of the Cadillac ATS-V and think about it, ok?
After riding in and driving a DeLorean the “kid” should have kept the Kennedy dollar and driven the car off the cliff.
